What is palliative care?
Palliative care is not only for the final days of life. It should begin early and in good time whenever there is a serious, complex or progressive illness causing physical, emotional or functional suffering.
In line with the approach recognised by the World Health Organization, palliative care seeks to improve the quality of life of the person and family through early identification, careful assessment and treatment of pain and other physical, psychological, social and spiritual problems.
At home, this care takes on an even closer dimension, making it possible to care for the person in their familiar environment, with greater comfort, privacy and continuity of care.
